Current Events » in reply to One BIG difference...

Bill Clinton is not a politician. Not any more.

He's been the only one mentioned to be even a potential litigant, as far as I know. Besides, what difference should that make? As much as we all hate lawyers, that is still part of everyone's arsenal these days.

Perhaps more instructive was the network TV interview I saw this morning with the ex-FBI agent who was hired as a consultant for the film. I'm sorry I don't have a link for you, but I will try to reconstruct his comments as best I can from memory. Perhaps one of the other Zoners saw the interview and can confirm my observations.

The man mentioned he came on the job at the last minute when another ex-FBI man bowed out at the last minute because of disagreements with the film's producers over factual inaccuracies.

When the interviewee objected to the producers about certain incorrect details in the film (like who was a head agent in a specific office at a specific time) he was told essentially, to take a hike. The man then went to his friends at the FBI and they called the actor in the film who played the part (Harvey Keitel) who outraged, pressured the producers to reshoot the scenes in question. The interviewee reports he got a nasty letter from the producers about how reshooting the scene cost them several hundred thousand $. I doubt if he'll be a consultant in any more Conservative films.

As the interviewee went on to recount other incidents, he was abruptly interrupted in mid-sentence (so much for the Liberal media shibolleth) and they moved on to another story.

Normally this sort of thing happens so often it is a non-story, regardless of who does it, but the fact that it is coming so close to the elections indicates an inordinately high level of sleaze. This is classic dirty-tricks material from the likes of...well, I won't mention any names. They like using lawyers, too.
