Or something like that. Probably because I'd be waiting in a line two miles long and my bladder'd be full....

It isn't that you're not right about the list of possible economic factors. It's that the list of possible explanations of why gas prices are dropping just before a crucial election in which Republicans, darlings of the oil companies and friends to the sheiks, are fighting for their lives to hang on to power ...;-)... it's that the list is incomplete if it doesn't include the possible explanation of deliberate manipulation by powers with a stake in the outcome of the election, fortified by the historical fact that on at least one occasion the Saudis are known to have offered to provide just that kind of help.

I'm not saying that it's so, only that a fair-and-balanced evaluation of the probabilities most take into account all non-zero probabilities. Perhaps we disagree on the percentage to give that probability, but it's not an impossibility.
