Christianity becomes dangerous when Christians/people forget the teachings of Christ and use it for political/power gains. Christians are not supposed to judge others (Let he without sin cast the first stone), and we are supposed to be compassionate, forgiving and merciful.
Check out this song;
Jerusalem
And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon englands mountains green?
And was the holy lamb of god
On englands pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was jerusalem builded here
Among those dark satanic mills?
Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear: o clouds unfold!
Bring me my chariots of fire!
I will not cease from metal fight;
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand
Till we have built jerusalem
In englands green and pleasant land.
I am not sure when it was written (Sounds from around the 1700’s) but it hints at England using Christianity to support war.
Some trivia. This song was used in Chariots of Fire. I also saw hear it in a Monty Python skit. I don’t know much about its history, thou.
