I was a Den Leader last year. My son is starting his second year in Scouts. They let any child join regardless of beliefs, religious or otherwise.
However, they do mention God in the Scout Oath.
Scout Oath
On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.
I think it is a good program.
An interesting statistic; Only about 2 in 50 cub scouts become Eagle Scouts.
They have a branch called the Sea Scouts that crew a boat in the Florida Keys. Girls are allows to be Sea Scouts
There is also a group of Adventure Scouts in which girls can be part of.
Not only do they learn strength and agility as they would in a kick-boxing club, they learn teamwork, how to help their community, how to help others and self confidence.
