Tony, here's what I've always said is our primary choice. Vote with a sense of humor. If all these people are assholes, then screw with them. Constantly vote to keep either party from gaining power except for short little periods of time. Ideally we would keep a 50/50 Jackass/Elephant split in all legislative bodies. Instead however, because of the gullibility of the voting public, these jerks find ways to pass their ridiculous agendas because of the power of incumbency.
Our weapon? When one party takes power, give it back to the other in the next election. It should be pretty obvious to anyone with a brain that the conservatives hold all the cards right now so give the reigns to the Democrats this next election. In another 2 years, if they've squandered your support, throw their asses out.
After a few election cycles when it's obvious the electorate is bi-polar, the pols might actually try to figure out a way to play the system. Their only option? Restore credibility. Might work.
