"Braaaawwwk! Tom's Right! Squaaaawk!"
Paraphrasing Tom's assertion doesn't help a bit.
SDAI-Tech1: Wayward Democrats almost never have their party affiliation mentioned. That happens locally, statewide and on the national level.
Tom: The technique most often used in the press is to simply not mention the party designation of wayward Democrats, not to relabel them as Republicans.
At least Tom has offered studies in the past, albeit from Republican sources, to try and back up his claim. But you offer this?
I can second Tom's observation, and I have been looking for it. Like a pregnant woman spotting other pregnant woman it's something that only stands out to you when you actively search.
Parsing that tortured metaphor, I think you just said that only Republicans perceive bias, because they're always looking and actively searching for it. It's not necessary to be a pregnant Republican, though, right?
Could it be that the bias is an artifact of your perceptions? That's the first logical possibility to consider when a person sees things that others don't, or assumes that everyone's out to get him. The best way to answer the question is with objective evidence of the bias, or the conspiracy, and that's why I'm asking.
I'm trying real hard to not just assume you're having paranoid delusions, Techie. Work with me here.
