The problem is that Islam is a house of cards.
It all rests entirely upon the prophecy of Mohammed. Weaken the assumption of the validity of that prophecy and all Islame is threatened with collapse.
A system that can not tolerate dissent or parody is fundamentally weak. Note that the democracies tolerate every possible criticism and satire of their leaders and their institutions and they do not collapse.
Islam, rather than being strong, is failing. Educated Muslims are leaving it in droves as soon as they have contact with the developed countries.
Some day people will wonder how anybody took seriously the hallucinations of a mental case who heard voices in a cave.
