If you're a liberal, PC means an exagerrated and unrealistic refraining from being offensive to or being insulting towards, people of a different race, gender, sexual orientation, age, national origin, language, religion (or lack of it), or creed. The idea being to maintain harmony and civility in spite of centrifugal social forces in a society.
If you're a conservative, it means getting all weepy and sentimental over the flag, the anthem, owning property, running a business, speaking one language, being white (preferably of North European origin) and a fundamentalist, Protestant, Christian God. It also includes being totally intolerant of anyone who doesn't subscribe to that belief, or for that matter, feels the slightest bit uncomfortable with it. The idea being to maintain uniformity, hierarchy and stratification in spite of progressive forces in a society.
