Educatiing The Public On Astronomy And Space

Jeff F — 10/12/2006 2:56:08 PM (archived)

I eat and sleep and drink space exploration and astronomy, it's in my DNA. That said, I recently joined a major Astronomy club in my state, which is even building it own observatory to house it's main 25" Dob Truss Scope.

I'm seeing how difficult and frustrating it really is when we host public outreach, generally most people "Just Have No Clue".
I get serious questions about how many astronauts are living on Pluto, since we don't consider it a planet anymore. I'm really seeing just how out of touch the public is, I guess Survivor and Desparate Housewives TV shows just get in the way of common sense.
