can set us back.
We know now that Mars is cold and probably lifeless. Just sand and rocks that are of great interest to a few scientists but not to the average tax payer.
The Disney production envisioned a fleet of spacecraft that probably delighted the viewing public. It is hard to imagine such a proposal being offered up in a world that knows that Venus is hell, Mars is dead and there is nowhere in the solar system that we can travel and survive with our foreseeable resources.
To make it worse, what we are learning of interstellar space make the rare Earth theory likely.
Sadly it seems that space exploration is all but dead until access becomes so cheap that it can be accomplished from someones backyard.
I can handle the truth but I sure miss the speculation of the 50s and 60s.

The truth sets us free but it....
