Or Star Wars.

That whole universe looked "lived in."

"Dark Star" also comes to mind as a realistic (at least in the character sense) of what might happen to astronauts stuck out on the far end of nowhere.

A scene from "Solaris" (the first movie) that impressed me the most was one person who put strips of paper over his ventilator outlet to remind him of the sound of trees in the wind.

"Babylon 5" had real people and real environments. Crew quarters had personality. There was a little of this in the original "Star Trek," but the sets were re-used constantly and it was hard to have "Spock's cabin" reflect more than a little of what it might have been like.

"2001" was the other end of the scale--humans that were almost robots, deliberate on the part of Kubrick.
