It is a grand scheme of space scientists to take government money and grants to search for asteroids and comets which actually pose no real threat. The "sky is falling" brownshirts have lied and tricked everyone into being concerned about something that isn't real. These scientists claim civilization could be destroyed but let's not listen to them because we know they are lying simply for their own agenda. After all, what do we have to lose? It's no big deal if we are wrong about them and OUR ENTIRE PLANET BECAME UNINHABITABLE...

This is exactly analogous to the mindset of the anti-global warming denialists. It is unlikely we will be hit by an asteroid or comet but the consequences of such a development are so severe that action should (and is) being taken. Similarly, the consequences of human caused global warming are so great that it is insane to not take all the scientiific data and claims seriously. And the likelihood of such a development is far greater than a near term impact. But no, it is "all a ploy by scientists from all over the planet to scare people and governments out of their money." How utterly stupid is that? The obstinence in the denialists thinking over global warming is comparable to religous fanatics who reject any evidence no matter how strong that their belief system is untrue. GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF THE SAND! IT ISN'T ABOUT AL GORE. IT ISN'T ABOUT POLITICS. IT ISN'T ABOUT LIBERALS OR CONSERVATIVES. IT'S ABOUT SCIENCE. IT'S ABOUT PREVENTING A GLOBAL DISASTER.
