If soldiers can decide which wars they don't want to fight in, then they'll want to decide which ones they want to start. Like lawyers and doctors, there has to be a willing surrender of preference here on whether or not you want to participate in a particular case. I will support anyone who refuses to enlist, even if it means civil disobedience, but once you willingly and voluntarily take the oath, you are morally obligated to stay in for the duration.
