you are right about the real target of his satire being the US, but I just think he should have been more careful about the 'collateral damage' to a basically inoffensive nation (Kazakhstan). I heard they're pretty upset, hardly suprising. This didn't bother me for months but somehow is starting to bug me - maybe it's all that time I'm spending recently, browsing through pics of glorious mountainous scenery in Central Asia.
