Pushing the limit
It was a form of American nationalism to watch him parody a muslim state in all it's absurdities. And it was a form of release for us to laugh while integrating his observations. It was the opposite swing of the pendulum here and was cathartic to a degree. We could laugh while ignoring the peril of the State. It was jingoism at it's finest, couched under the moustache of a comedian.
However, Borat (in his reckless search for a laugh) took to the streets of New York and tried his comedy routine on passers-by. He only got what he deserved. That's what happens when you take fantasy into reality. Especially on the streets of New York.
