Sorry if I'm skeptical of your views Raoul, but I have yet to see any reckoning on your part with France's part in this situation while you constantly throw darts at the US. I still firmly believe that a diploamtic solution was stymied by France, Russia, and Germany's refusal to stand firmly against the interests of their Iraqi contracts.
I disagree with your timetable, and your dismissal of the threat of civil war, but I am concerned about whether our presence is stabilizing or destabilizing. I believe the threat of civil war is real, but I'm not sure we haven'r already passed the point were we can influence it's progress.
While I think it's plausible that a lot of the foreign fighters would leave if we did, it's also clear many are there on a holy war to establish another islamic sunni state which is exactly why they bombed a Shiite tempel to set off this mess. How can you ignore that as a strategy of the terrorists?
