Just because you can assept it's possible to have liquid water on Mars doesn't make it a cabal, Ed.

I might add it's not that big of a deal for the news media. Here (AZ) I note they aired news about the Iraq commission as the lead at the top and at the commerical lead with possiblity of Mars water. Probably all over the country this was how it happened.

BTW, it is possibly under the right condition to have salty liquid H2O at the surface of Mars. Some thing known in the 1990s from tests.
