Man, you're a sad case. Nowhere in Bowser's post did he celebrate Saddam's rule and the resulting secular society. Nobody on here ever has in the posts I've read. They've simply pointed out the irony of the situation.
Just which laws in our country target the Islamic religion Tom? I would hope that someone of any party would be horrified at any law in our country that did that. What people have objected to is not the use of Constitutional law to harass Muslims in this country but the use of irrational profiling to do so. Your president has stated publicly after 9/11 that practice would not be tolerated although you could certainly state precedence since then that he's gone back on his word.
Here's the facts. The laws that are used against Muslim extremists are the exact same laws that are applied to whacked out people of every religion or viewpoint. The laws are designed to prevent CRIMINAL behavior. Nobody, including the ACLU, would ever stop law enforcement from raiding a mosque if they had concrete evidence that a plot was being concocted within it to blow up an oil tanker. One would hope though that the same dilligence would be used by those criminal specialists to go into a Baptist church where Christians were plotting the same thing or an apartment full of tanker-bombing atheists. It isn't about the religion. It's about abherrant and criminal behavior and not just a few guys praying before they get on a plane.
Man, someone ought to take you in the middle of the night and plop you into a society where your religious choices were way out of the majority and let you see how being viewed with constant suspicion felt. Oh, make sure you're man enough to wear a big cross around your neck. It'd be wonderful to be a fly on the wall in that situation and see you humbled a bit.
