If we're going to discount eyewitness reports, crew reports, and the police report, not sure where else I can go for information you would deem reliable enough. Where have you been getting your views of the story?
So as for your claim that Christianity is immune from acts of violence and terrorism from its fundamental core...
Never said anything about Christianity being immune from violence and terrorism any more than any other fundamentalist belief. I'm pointing out the numbers and actions here and now.
It is not irrational to have more suspicion of Muslim fundamentalists, under the current historical circumstances.
My wife, who comes into an airport in a wheelchair, has to go through a complete inspection each and every time because of her metal hip, including a lot of standing, which is incredibly uncomfortable and even painful for her. The security people are understanding and apologetic, and have never been rude about it, but it doesn't make things easier.
This is because to the perceptual mentality, she has exactly the same potential for bringing an airline down with a bomb in the name of God as a fundamentalist imam.
...why don't we look to the years of protracted bombings and assassinations in Northern Ireland.
Okay, why don't we? From 1969 to 1995, the grand total of people killed in the Northern Ireland situation was 3,181, which is approximately what Muslim terrorists accomplished in two hours on September 11th. Now, add in all the attacks elsewhere since then.
It really doesn't matter what the distribution is today. The potential for abuse exists equally among all groups and police have to follow the leads where they exist without regard to the religious affiliation. To imply anything differently is bigotry at its worst.
Of course it matters what the distribution is today. And we aren't talking about "potential," but about what people are actually DOING. Patterns of behavior MEAN something. If anything, moderate Muslims should be condemning these imams for making things worse on purpose.
