People might have more of an affinity on at least a basic level for genetically engineered
space-adaptable humans over Artilects simply because there is that biological connection.
But it is all really academic. We're exploring space right now with robots with rather
primitive AI, often less advanced than what is sitting on your desk right now. But does
that stop us from enjoying space exploration? Anything more advanced, be it biological
or machine, will only enhance the enjoyment to say nothing of the knowledge factor.
The real point is, if we are going to truly explore and settle space, it has to be done
right or we don't bother at all. Since changing the entire Universe is a bit of a chore
at the moment, it wold be much easier to change us or build better machines to do
the job.
Or maybe a fusion of the two.
