I am conflicted about this...

I feel cruelty to animals is a crime, and I've given up ever getting into hunting, which I've always wanted to try, and I stopped fishing, which I enjoyed for years. I felt both were morally unacceptable.

On the other hand, I wear leather shoes, love my steak, and support the use of animals in scientific research and product testing. I am perfectly aware of the hypocrisy in this position and I don't know how to resolve the moral contradiction. As long as I don't participate directly in the torture and killing, I can rationalize it away.

Have any of you given any thought to this, is there anything you can tell me to help me deal with this dilemma?
