I think you know the answer
I've been a vegetarian for years, and I oppose the use of animals in scientific and commercial testing. Products that involve the use of leather, or anything similar, are right out.
But it remains a struggle and takes a real personal commitment. I don't talk to people about it unless they ask. For me, it's not a political statement, but a personal response to the fact that most higher-order creatures are self-aware and have a rich emotional life that involves an interest in their own well-being that greatly transcends instinct.
