The polar opposite of Luddite is damn fool. Is all learning good? No, not when it puts too much power in humanity's highly imperfect hands. As you have pointed out, we're not smart enough as a species to stop when we begin doing something unwise. Not everything we do improves us. Sometimes, damage is simply damage.
