That's a bit different from walking down the street singing the praises of an atheist or wiccan lifestyle. What you described in your first post was the lack of tolerance for in-your-face expressions of your faith in a Muslim country.
There are many non-Christians living in the Bible Belt but I seriously doubt that they're on the street corners trying to convert the true believers. Obviously, people here aren't going to grabbed off the streets in broad daylight and taken out to be hung but then again most of the zealots here are pretty well off. They have food on their tables, their TV's are tuned to American Idol, and their kids are playing on video games so it's not worth the risk of jail or injury to take drastic action against the heathens.
However, take that same Christian fundamentalist family and put them in conditions of abject poverty where they don't know if they'll be alive the next day and watch the extremism grow to murderous conclusions. That's the part the Muslim-bashers forget. It's not the religion only causing the violence. It's also brought on by the fact that most of the Muslims live under much worse conditions than do their Christian counterparts.
