It's not our job to set up a western civilization in the middle of another culture, especially in the Middle East. And attacking Saudi Arabia would have been just as bad. ANY 'invasion' was a bad idea, let alone "occupation".
It was all contained anyway. We have incredible air power and the ability to take out whole countries if a real threat existed. That's our ace in the hole.
We squandered the goodwill and backing of other nations that would have very easily supported us in routing out Al Queda. Worldwide.
Now there's a hundred or a thousand times more muslims that we can consider terrorists, and all because of a handful of American men with strategic interests and the means to try and accomplish them.
Bush just had way too much power, and he used it.
