I didn't notice any "malice" in Tech1's post. What followed could hardly be called a "knife fight".
It's my observation that you take ownership of your posts. In doing so, you find it insulting when a brawl breaks out or the topic zings off in some wild tangent. You're a serious writer, your post is your "baby". It's like a school teacher engaging a bright student- being forced to stop in order to discipline some noisy kids in the back of the room.
It's not much different than Art wanting to exclude certain members of the community from posting on "His" threads.
The fact is, It happens to everybody here. It can be very disappointing when a thread you started and hoped would bring fruitful discussion ends up down the toilet. But it doesn't happen all the time. You just have to start thinking about the next one and let go/move on.
I enjoy the open format at the Zone. We could allow everyone to be moderators and edit their threads for content and participation but I think it would be far less "flavorful"
