Thoughts on Iran supplying weapons for Iraq.

Now, the US was the world's biggest supplier of weapons for years and years. It refused to sign a UN convention limiting those sales. The US supplied weapons to the Afghanis, Kurds, Czechs, lots of people causing trouble all over the world. The US supplies the Israelis with $2 billion in military aid per year, including cluster bombs which have been used against civilians. Still killing people over there with Israeli fired clusters.

In Vietnam one could see tracers of purple, green, red, and I swear yellow and white. The Eastern Europeans, Chinese and Russians were supplying them with ammunition as well as weapons.

In Korea the Chinese supplied troops and weapons, the Russians air power and weapons.

(When Finland fought Russia, they got ammunition from both Germany and Britain, who were fighting each other. At the time, Britain and the USSR were sort of allies.)

In Iraq it would seem there would reasonably be weapons from all over the world. Everywhere. Including Iran. And Iran would have a legitimate reason to supply them. The US has screwed her over for over 50 years, continuously.

The most deadly weapons are from the US, who attacked without provovation a third-world country which was no threat. It would make sense to me that the resistance would receive weapons from all over the world.

I'm sure the Rest Of the World knows the screaming of the Bush Administration over Iran is sanctimonious nonsense, not worthy of serious attention. It's just domestic drums beating for the Bush determination to attack Iran.

It's the identical run-up we had to Iraq, and we've seen how well Bush can fight a war there. A third-world country with 26 million people, no navy, no air force, and it led him right into the annals of military history as the most incompetent CinC ever. Offhand I cannot think of a worse beating suffered by a military power, even the Japanese-Russo War of 1905. Well, Vietnam, but that was a better supplied, more determined enemy. But one hell of a beating, anyway.

And he will expand the conflict. With absolutely no plan except to try to look tough and make it last until someone else has the balls to get out. Maybe Hillary, who has more balls than he, and maybe especially Hillary.
