I would derive no comfort from learning that reincarnation was a fact, unless, I had a memory of my previous life after my rebirth. It wouldn't have to be perfect, my memory of my present life isn't perfect either!
I guess what I'm trying to say is not that reincarnation exists or not, but that I just don't care whether it exists or not.
Have you seen the old movie where a detective has amnesia, and he is trying to solve a murder? His investigation eventually turns up the murderer, and it is him! Talk about film noir.
Should he turn himself in? Should he feel guilty about it? It just reduces to absurdity.
