There is always going to be inherent evil in this world and we must constantly stay vigilant against it. The spotlight right now is just obviously on Islam and the Middle East. Their threat to us though is hardly military. Terror doesn't work with uniformed armies. It's clandestine individuals and small forces that are best fought with basic police and intelligence work far from the visible battlefield.

It's an imperfect science however and we must acknowledge that some are going to make it through. Obviously, our intent must be to minimize the damage that can happen when that occurs (ie: securing rogue nuclear materials, etc.)

There's no perfect answer to the threats other than simply being smarter and quicker than the idiots. Our last decade has been an abysmal failure at that.
