-super low weight frame and body. Aluminum and carbon fiber
-individual high efficiency electric motors on all 4 wheels.
-4 wheel steering
-Nickel Metal Hydride "D" cell batteries as the battery pack. Easily replaced and inexpensive. Can locate the cells throughout the car as well. Why not have some in the door panels?
-Regenerative braking for recharging the batteries.
-Photovoltaic cells built into the roof and any other horizontal surfaces. Why shouldn't the car help recharge itself while it's parked?
-Aircraft quality APU for primary recharge while driving. Advantage over a piston motor is they're a turbine engine and will run on almost any fuel (including tequila).
-Able to be recharged from any standard AC outlet.
-Pedals on the passenger floorboard attached to a small generator. Gives the ability for exercise while riding and can give an emergency charge should you find yourself dead in the water.
-Both evap cooler and AC unit. Compressor can run off of the APU.
Other options:
-amphibious. If I'm building the thing from scratch, why not make it really cool?
-James Bond devices for disabling other cars during rush hour.
