Doctors have questionable ethics.

Anything that generates revenue, like you said. The health care industry is self-reinforcing. The more medicine they give the general population, the longer we live. And the longer we live the more medicine we require. Doctors routinely over-prescribe, routinely spend longer with a patient than necessary, and prescribe medication for minor ailments when they should simply tell people to go home.

They indulge in procedures "just for the experience". For example, I'm an engineer and I'd love to get some experience doing some type of analysis on a particular mechanical gadget. Similarly, I think doctors do things like circumcisions and "diagnosing virginity of girls" without questioning whether it is ethical to do so, simply because they'd love to get the experience doing it. Any kind of procedure. When I had my appendix removed there must have been 30 doctors in the operating room. In recovery there were lineups to examine my bandage. How educational.

Seriously stupid. They can't be trusted. They WILL try to sell you on the idea of circumcision and anything else (look at the success of holistic medicine) if it generates business for them.
