re: Reductio ad absurdo

"So if I understand you correctly, what the press should do is refrain from depicting bodies (and general suffering, destruction, injuries, as well as defeats, military errors and incompetence and botched operations) so that it it will be easier for the United States to enter into future wars."

You did not understand correctly.
Now, may I humbly ask, are you trying to be cute, or are you really this dense?

The point has nothing really to do with pictures of dead people. Though perhaps I need to establish the obvious that soldiers or even the evil terrorists are people?
The question of whether to show dead people is a similar question as to what is pornography. Endless discussion could follow, but it's not particularly relevant.

But the "so that it it will be easier for the United States to enter into future wars" indicates some proximity to the topic.

Here is it again:
"This idea that it's good to do things which deter the US from getting involved in any future war is something Lefties consider to be the correct thing to do."

And it's good because.....?

As part of an example:
If you could throw a switch that resulted in Americans refusing to allow the US military to ever be involved in any war [other than maybe a military attack from Mexico or Canada], this switch should be thrown? Let's first assume the cost of throwing this switch is free? Good thing to do?
And though that should be "enough", let's assume there is some cost to throwing this switch. How much would it be worth in terms of billions of dollars and/or number of dead in order to activate this switch?

Just to be clear this switch does not stop war, but only any possible US involvement. And obviously, the US would not have any troops anywhere in the world other than stationed in the US soil [whether we have any soldier in any US embassies around the world, I leave as a optional choice- but it's safe to say no US soldiers or any kind military forces assisting any other country in any capacity. Perhaps "soldiers" with decorational swords or fake rifles could be allowed in embassies. Or maybe you think we shouldn't even have embassies, is that a possibility?].
