I have a load of coins, many of them silver, and some with figures of Alexander the Great from Afghanistan Ma Bowser brought back. I don't know the history behind them at all. There are so many old coins around, minted in honor of everyone and his squire, that finding out about any particular one is iffy.
I thought I'd save that project for when my knees or feet went and I couldn't get around much. Maybe for "The Home". It pretty much requires learning the entire history of the region in some detail.
But I believe Alexander the Great left the local infrastructure in place. I recall reading about one of his conquests where that was the case. If he didn't he'd have to leave a large part of his manpower behind. I think he more convinced folks by force that getting along was better than not, and sort of co-opted their foreign relations.
I'll have fun looking into that, too.
Thanks.
