The Empire State Building and zepplins
The spire at the top of New York City's Empire State Building was
designed to let zepplins dock to drop off and pick up passengers.
The idea had to be abandoned when they realized that the winds
up there would be too strong to keep the zepplins stable.
A pity. We could have had a "future" New York with zepplins sailing
the skies and docking at the skyscrapers. Now we don't even have
flying cars.
