So, is it your belief that a nuclear warhead going off on U.S. soil WOULD be the end of the world?

Or that a rational radiation-aware civil defense system is futile?

We are badly in need of a civil defense system at least as good as the one we used to have. There is damn little wrong with a network of community shelters stocked with food, water and medical supplies. Or maybe you can't think of any other situation besides an atomic attack where something like this might be useful?
