XP is now at the point where I consider it a mature OS.
No disagreement here. XP SP2 is a very sweet OS, I imagine a lot of people will still be quite happy with it years from now.
There are a number of issues associated with Vista to be sure, but in all fairness, many of them (in my experience thus far) can't be fairly placed at Vista's feet. *So* many companies are choosing to leave users out in the cold by deciding to not deliver updates for Vista...Adobe is a notable example. They're forcing an upgrade on their customers. Wanna use Photoshop on Vista, you've gotta shell out for CS3. No patches for ealier versions.
Still, for end users, issues are issues and their source is perhaps less important than their effect. Dell apparently just announced that due to huge demand, they'll begin selling new machines with XP again. The Vista rollout is going to be especially glacial.
