Make a new plan, Stan.

All snide comments aside, divorce is a blessing. I've never been through one, I'm happily married, but my wife went through an ugly one, and it would have been much better for everyone concerned, even the SOB she was married to, if they had just done it and gotten over with it. The disastrous affairs I endured before I got married were blissfully over when one or the other of us gave up. Sometimes I left, and I was happy to leave. Sometimes she left, and I was devastated to see her go. In either case, prolonging the agony would have helped neither of us.

Granted, there are often complications, children, community property, and so forth which may have to be negotiated, or litigated. But in the event of just two people who can't get along, dragging it out for religious or cultural reasons is simply asinine. All this crap about "working it out" is just that, crap. If you don't want to be around someone then "working" at keeping the relationship together isnot only stupid, it's meaningless: one word strung after another with no meaning associated with it at all. Think about it, working at getting along with someone else? The very concept is a contradiction. Marriage is your refuge from work, not a part time for minimum wage and an asshole boss. If you do not love someone you should just leave them. If you love them and they don't love you then you're better off if they leave. If you both love each other and still can't get along you give it some time and when it gets intolerable you both leave.

Without divorce, an unhappy marriage quickly becomes a living hell for at least one of its victims, often for both. And for what, because God won't like it? Wise up, God doesn't give a shit.
