The US is coming to realize that McDonalds is not the ideal of the world, that not everyone wants to emulate us, and that our narcissism is not welcome in many areas of the world.
A very many folks are happy with their lives and their way of living without the cheap and tawdry being forced upon them by the IMF and World Bank.
Globalization is shipping many of the better jobs off to India and China, and that will continue. A friend of mine runs the software for a significant section of a huge financial company. He says they can ship off requests to programmers in India one day and do to the time differential get results back the next. Inexpensively and accurately.
That's quite a let-down to the new graduates. The US is no longer an island, export is no longer a one-way street, and in the great averaging there is a natural evening out of the world curves. Instead of just third-world countries, all countries can now experience plutocracy, with the decline of middle classes.
That's what they are seeing. The natural outcome of Conservative politics.
