re: Ever wonder why your posts get so few responses?

"Because most of the people here don't think you address issues with any kind of intellectual honesty.

I don't say that lightly. You constantly make posts that you state as fact which are directly in conflict with scientific evidence. Obviously global warming has become your target De Jour."

I think you are wrong. And all you can do is insult rather than provide anything that resembles an argument. My link provided a large amount stuff that could have been argued about. But that would require time and it would hurt your brain to do that.

I think people on these boards are like most people mostly looking for entertainment- same reason they are interested in any media in general. So things which are funny, pictures a kitten, a fire bomb insults, or saying stupid things, e.g. "fire doesn't melt steel", these are things that people find interesting.
And I have nothing against the idea that people should do things which are enjoyable.
The simply fact is that the easiest thing to respond to is normally the most responded to.

Now, the reason Buck Galaxy has responded to this post is probably due to fact that Raoul mistakingly put this on the Flame board. If this was left on the Space board where is should be, then Bucky wouldn't have said jack.

I'm not interested in lots of responses or even few.

But I find this worth a reply:

"CONTEMPLATE THIS (and this is for ALL global warming deniers): If you are right, what are the consequences of immediate actions to prevent global warming? "

First of all, I favor and have favored anything that would effectively prevent global warming. Building more nuclear power plants would be to most effective way of doing this. Few people who have given this any thought, can argue convincingly against the idea that this would be the most effective way of doing this.
My main problem with "global warming" is all the pseudo science and distortion/lies connected with it.

And some people believe that exaggerating the danger of global warming is a Good Thing. I disagree. Rather, I think it is an Evil thing. I think it is evil in a number of different ways. But why should I bother to explain, how something is evil when there people who are in denial of anything being evil- save perhaps George Bush and anything opposed to their political views? I mean if people can't see that terrorists are a threat and that they are evil, but rather believe that they are courageous "freedom fighters, it's pretty bleak to explain things which may be less obvious and a bit more complicated.

So, I favor increasing the amount of nuclear powerplants, but on a longer term I favor things which could be more effective and better than this. On numbers of occasions of spent many words explaining, how we would get to the point of getting most of our energy needs from Space.
So, not only do I want to do the most effective actions possible in the near term, but I also advocate for things that would remove most of any kind of power generation [including nuclear powerplant] from the earth surface and even remove most of industry from Earth.

In other words I have said I favor near term solutions and I have argued for longer terms solutions.
Specifically, I think the US should try to increase the amount of nuclear power plants in the US by 50% within the next decade. And 100% and more within a few decades.
But the reason I favor these ideas has nothing to do with any fear that all of Greenland's ice will melt within a decade or within hundreds years or within thousand years.
That is nonsense. No one but idiots like Gore are selling such foolishness.

"First, clearly some short to medium term economic pain; next a rapid transition to non-polluting energy sources which will mean cleaner air and water for us and our children; further, energy independence from the Islamic oil (a homeland security issue you think?); potentially, America becoming a (clean) energy exporter, which would be an almost immeasurable benefit to our economy."

I see no need for this pain. And other than increasing taxes, I just don't know what you could be talking about, when you refer to "some short to medium term economic pain". Why can't we simply allow nuclear waste to be stored somewhere, and allow nuclear plants to be build. Let's make electrical power cheaper.

The hard left has been trying everything to shutdown nuclear powerplants and stop new ones from being built- and their biggest club is to do anything to increase the cost to run a nuclear power plant. If coal plants were attacked as much a nuclear plants, you would not have as many coal plants. But instead increasing the cost of coal powerplants, the better direction would be to lower the cost of nuclear- nuclear can beat coal in terms of cost if there wasn't political opposition- and unnecessary lawsuits and harassment- not to mention all the voodoo pseudoscience about how dangerous nuclear power is.

"Now, if you are WRONG about global warming: MASSIVE medium and long term economic disaster caused from environmental impact. A potentially UNINHABITABLE PLANET FOR THE HUMAN RACE."

I could be wrong.
But it does not matter whether I'm right or wrong, the issue is the science. There is no science that supports your fears.
