Self-medicating...

...is never a good idea unless one is a qualified physician. Treating the vague symptoms of 'global warming' with a CO2 eradication program seem just as risky as polluting large-scale.

Solar variation.

A globe full of CO2 or a world with very little will still be getting warmer at the surface if the cause of global warming is solar variation. The difference will be that the folks will be irradiated and have all sorts of cancers long before they get cooked to death in a world where CO2 is turned into a dirty word.

The real disturbing truth is this: pollution actually protects people when you have a solar variance which increases the intensity and frequency of the radiation hitting the planet.

If solar variation is to blame we don't want to eliminate anything that blocks and catches radiation. Sure we don't want to be choking on smoke either, but a fine balance needs to be thought out.

Right now you have folks running around pointing the blame at industry and man for something that is likely entirely out of mans hands to create or mitigate.

If one wants to dump heat off the planet - there are scientific ways of doing that, which are far more intelligent than outlawing SUVs, incandescent light bulbs or whatever the Greenies mission-du-jour is.

One way is to convert heat into long wave length IR radiation which can escape the atmosphere and go into space.

Another method is to filter the sunlight before it hits the Earth. Any long-term goal of an enduring civilization has to be mastering the solar radiation that bombards the planet to a desired quantity. This probably means building and inventing on a grand scale:

A fleet of remote controlled spacecraft that generate huge electromagnetic fields that trap certain wavelengths of solar radiation before it gets to Earth?

Some new method of manipulating space to act as a polarizing filter?

It's time to address the source of warming - not just pretend to fix things by self-medicating.
