They wouldn't know "libertarian" if it bit them in the arse. No party that so firmly believes the government should have its finger in every aspect of human activity has much to say about privacy. As I've said before, Republicans want to get into your bedroom. Democrats want to get into everyplace else you ever are.
How much of your life will be private when the government is handling all your medical care? Anyone ever bother to think that one through?
I don't get bent out of shape about hallucinations and paranoid fantasies. Nobody is running around putting the "Mark of the Beast" on anyone. I could get a chip put in if I want, same as I could get "I Had Sex With Barney the Dinosaur" tatooed on my forehead. I suspect the latter would have more effect on my life than the former. I don't plan on either of them.
If anyone wants to discuss serious issues on privacy, like the balance between security and privacy, go for it.
Britain is able to use observation cameras to help capture terrorists. Is that worth the loss of privacy for all the rest of the British?
Technology is maturing that allows computers to identify faces on photos or camera images, and match them with the person. This is real, and IMO, is more of a real privacy issue than chips are. Again, this could also allow quick apprehension of criminals. Is the tradeoff worth it?
