For a civilization that's capable of building space-based megastructures presumably to fulfill their energy needs, wouldn't fusion reactors be a more likely solution? I mean, unless the megastructures are just their way of having fun...
ps...I realize that the star in question IS a fusion reactor, but you know what I mean...
