Black and white thinking and the demonization which is it's cousin cannot survive the light of day and free speech. Understanding the world around us precludes black and white thinking. For that reason it is anathema to those folks.
For instance, the havoc the US has wreaked upon Iran over the years has been considerable, including overthrowing a democratically elected leader because he threw out Western oil companies. The CIA installed a repressive regime which lasted 35 years. It is preferable to hear the President say "they hate democracy" or "they hate freedom" to understanding the reality.
Historically, Conservatives don't like communism as an economic system or Islam as a religion taught in schools, regarding the teaching about as prosletizing. We have seen that disagreement with Conservative leadership is regarded as treason. ree speech is one-way, to be used to reinforce prejudices - any other outcome is not acceptable.
Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between a lynch-mob mentality and Conservative attitudes. Both involve demonizing, shouting down, and regarding anyone who thinks the least bit differently as against you.
This is a free speech issue to the core. And the Conservative attitude toward the Bill of Rights is laid out in "black and white".
