Anyone can stumble,..

or get caught in scandal, real or fabricated, or have health issues, or make an incredible gaffe, or be misquoted.

The fear and loathing Republicans have for the Clintons is not because of their politics (which have always been quite moderate compared to most other Democrats). They are terrified of them because they can win, and when they do win they are popular with a broad spectrum of Americans. The right hates the Clintons the same way and for the same reason they hated the Kennedys. They are articulate and attractive, the only comparable Republican appears to be Giuliani but he's not politically correct enough for the right wing of his party. Those Republicans who hate the Clintons are not likely to vote for ANY Democrat, and I can't imagine any Democrat who disliked them (yes, there are many) voting Republican out of spite. Hilary can't lose, unless she screws up or has a run of bad luck. But those things happen.

If a camera catches her crying, she'll be painted as a weak women. If she's overheard reaming out an aide, she'll get a reputation as a heartless bitch. And of course, Bill is being scrutinized even more closely than she is. Need I say more?

But if Hillary fumbles, Gore will be right there to pick up the ball and run with it. Mark my words.
