That response explains a lot Tom.
I’ve dealt with a fair number of Engineers in my time. To be honest, most of them related to other people exactly the same way you do. No matter their political leaning.
I’ve never considered it a flaw, just the way they saw everything.
But people are not precisely designed, carefully assembled, well tested equipment. They are far more complex and are constantly changing. They do not react to a given set of parameters in a uniform manner.
Over the years I’ve watched your replies here, and noted some of your past work through what you’ve shared with us over that time.
While you made a serious error then, you’re good at what you do. That’s a simple fact.
And, over the last few years your political stance has shifted more to the right. It’s been slow and subtle, but it’s there. (Please, don’t ask for links, I’ve not the time nor bandwidth to do it. That’s an observation.)
Most of us tend to act/react in emotional reflex than intellectual response. Make some allowances for that.
I work primarily with machines/systems/mechanical assemblies. And honestly, I like it that way. Machines, while frustrating at times, respond to input in a predictable manner. As a rule, people do not. With even more honesty, my interpersonal skills are not exactly stellar. I can, and have, run a crew, Department, even a Company. But not as well as I should be able to, like you seem to see things, I expect logical responses to input.
Peepulz is not Logical for the most part. What works to encourage and inspire Jim would simply piss off Max. Which can lead to some rather ... interesting ... situations.
I value your presence here as much as Bowser’s, and everyone else.
But there are times when both of you make me grit my teeth. Which is good, that’s when I have to really take a hard look at what anyone has to say. The Why’s, Wherefores and Hows of the World at large.
