re: Been a "near certainty" for a year or so, now.
If you actually look, the only ones screaming about a coming military attack on Iran are the leftists. I still remember when they were sure it was going to happen last Easter. It was going to be the "October Surprise" in the 2006 election, and I suspect you'll hear a lot of that again next fall.
Tom, don't you think that all makes sense though? If Cheney and his bunch were truly considering a military strike on Iran, would they show their hand ahead of time? Wouldn't that be quite a military blunder?
If the predictions are true, what difference does it make as to guessing the timing of the attack? You're completely ruling out the possibility (I'm not saying probability by the way) that an attack truly was planned in the past and that outrage over the perceived event prevented it from being carried out. There certainly were indicators of a possible attack in the planning but the movements could also have just been diplomatic bluster or just simple exercises that were long overdue. Regardless, I am encouraged that citizens questioned what was happening. That should occur during administrations where any party is in command.
What you probably don't understand about the people that are concerned about war with Iran is that, if it occurs, it is a war of choice and not an emergency response such as if an army poured across our border. The former requires the consent and support of the entire country not just the decision of a handful of people in the White House. If some of the citizenry is concerned about reaching a tipping point in conflict, they have every right to put every move under a microscope and yell about their findings from the rafters. You had that right and responsibility when Clinton was massing bombers to strafe Bosnia just as the "left" needs to balance out an administration who's trigger finger twitches a bit much for comfort.
