Capture has some problems

Thing Capture can't explain is how the Earth & Moon ended up so alike and yet so very different in isotopic and iron-abundance terms. The "Big Splat" explicitly sets out to explain that problem and does so pretty parsimoniously.
Of course what if the Moon formed from some other planet's mantle? What if it's the missing bit of Mercury and Earth captured it?
There's a thought...
