re: Reforming the violent with violence

"The world must be made safe for democracy. Its peace must be planted upon the tested foundations of political liberty. We have no selfish ends to serve. We desire no conquest, no dominion. We seek no indemnities for ourselves, no material compensation for the sacrifices we shall freely make."

Woodrow Wilson - Democrat President

Thanks Rob...now you make me have to seem like an "old school" Democrat President!

;-)

And this one is also his:

"The Americans who went to Europe to die are a unique breed.... (They) crossed the seas to a foreign land to fight for a cause which they did not pretend was peculiarly their own, which they knew was the cause of humanity and mankind. These Americans gave the greatest of all gifts, the gift of life and the gift of spirit."

Do you really believe we went over to Iraq to enslave Iraqis? Or Afghanis? That we are there to seek territory, land or riches?

It's all about intent. America's presence in Iraq is noble. It may be poorly executed, perhaps poorly publicized and handled, but at it's core was the desire to oust a tyrant, eliminate any chance of WMD delivery to Al Qaeda and free Iraqis to choose their own leaders. It has been dragged through the swamp and portrayed as unchecked nationalism or imperialism - but it is nothing of the sort. No one polls the Kurds in Iraq and how happy they are. They were the one's who came to DC and begged for intervention. All that is conveniently forgotten as history is rewritten to imply we are there as part of a Jewish anti-muslim crusade. Some folks really believe that, including many who join Al Qaeda and wage jihad against us.
