hollow or glassy
Well we know the composition of the moon fairly well and it is certainly glassy (large amount of silicon). Though since even a solid bar of iron (or stone) will "ring like a bell", I don't think that it is a measure of hollowness. Anyhow, you won't find anyone who knows a little science who thinks the moon is hollow.
