Here's an elegant case of the glass half-empty and half-full: NBC/WSJ Poll: 57% Oppose Trump's Muslim proposal.
43% of Americans seem to be OK with Trump's plan to bar Muslims from entering America. That's 25% who actively agree with it (the sloppy-kissers), the rest are "meh".
Among Republicans, 42% actively support the plan. 36% oppose it. I can't explain the other 22%.
I wonder: If one of the relatively less-unhinged candidates had advocated the same thing, would even more people have backed it? Don't forget the proposals to allow only Christians into the country, a neat little dogwhistle-by-logical-inversion. How is that actually different? I really mean it when I say relatively less-unhinged.
